Changes in Student Health Insurance

Has your family’s health insurance changed because of the Affordable Care Act?

Student Health Insurance through Carroll is still an option for Spring 2014.

As you have no doubt heard, the Affordable Care Act’s deadline for all United States Citizens to carry ACA-qualified health insurance is January 1, 2014. For many families, employer provided health insurance options have changed this year. Some employers are narrowing networks, increasing deductibles, shifting more of the cost of healthcare to employees, and requiring spouses to be insured under their own employer plan, if eligible.

If you find that changes to your current employer’s plan have made insuring your student costly, you can still sign your student up for (Read more . . .)

Financial Aid Update - It's FAFSA time!

Now is the time to start thinking about next year’s financial aid process. The 2014-2015 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available now! You and your student can work on the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov. Carroll's recommended deadline is April 1, 2014. Be sure to have the FAFSA completed by then so your student doesn’t miss out on any financial aid opportunities.

If your student will not be completing the FAFSA for 2014-2015, please have him or her contact the Financial Aid Office.

If you have any questions regarding this process, contact us at 262.524.7296 or finawork@carrollu.edu.

Technology, Relationships & Heartache

As parents, it’s plain to see how technology has changed dating and relationships since we were in our late teens and early 20s. According to a recent study, “Singles in America,” conducted by Match.com’s Dr. Helen Fisher of Rutgers University and Dr. Justin R. Garcia of the Kinsey Institute, nearly one third of singles (27.5 percent), report that they have connected with someone they met online.

This makes the Web the number one place singles meet. These singles are doing their research on potential dates. Nearly 48 percent of women and 38 percent of men check out their date’s Facebook page, and 48 percent of women and 27 percent of men state they would cancel a date because of (Read more . . .)

Community Engagement Day of Service

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'" Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Starting on Jan. 20, the students, faculty and staff members of Carroll University will join their fellow Americans in honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in a Day of Service and/or other community building projects. Information on how you can celebrate this federal holiday as a day-, week- or yearlong commitment is at http://mlkday.gov.

Volunteering is a core American value. One in four Americans volunteer. More facts and toolkits for creating your own service project or event are at http://www.serve.gov.

A commitment to service, volunteerism and civic engagement is part of a commemoration in January and a way of life throughout the year. This commitment is what helps make the learning experience at Carroll so special.
